Frozen mud slush.
This time last year I had the summer tires on and was lamenting the coming dust and pollen. Not that I'm very successful at keeping it shiny clean, but in the warmer months I at least try.

Hey looks proper with those wheels and mud!

But hey, CUV that is actually used in mud/snow and it's blue!

I’m the opposite. In the winter I wash my car nearly every week to keep the salt off. In the summer, I might wash it once or something.
Looks like your snow is melting... What determines when the sheep can graze in the pasture instead of eating your stored hay?

My boss was doing AirBnB experiences with her pigs before this COVID stuff happened, but hasn’t tried the online version. Seems like there would have to be a lot more supply than demand for hanging out with farm animals over the internet, but who knows.

Thoughts on a probable Kona N?

Make it AWD Damnit! Otherwise just give us the i30 N.

It walks and talks the part.

The Fiesta ST wasn’t cutting it... So we got the least boring CUV we could afford. (yes, I do believe it to be superior to the CX3)

Right! If it isn’t AWD this will probably be our i30 N as I don’t know how close the US Elantra is to the ROW i30.

N ow that we live outside a metro area we actually see lots less salt, and we also travel less in the winter now that we’re farming full time. Also, the closest car wash is 40 miles away.
The grass needs to have a good start before we put the sheep on it,
A) it needs to be grown e nough that the sheep can get enough to eat.
B) I f the sheep go ou t too early they will end up pulling the roots out instead of pulling the leaves off, which will kill the grass.
C) If the ground is too wet we will have mud covered sheep and a dramatic rise in foot scald (essentially athlete’s foot for hoofed mamm als), which can lead to systemic infections or lameness.
So ideal ly, we need two to three weeks of good growing weather with moderate rain so that the grass has a solid start and the ground isn’t saturated. it’s going to be really close on hay. Luckily it was a good hay year last year and we shouldn’t have any problem buying any in... I just don’t want to have to .

Both are great cars, but most are driven by people who don’t need half the capability. I actually like the Kona, breaking my own rule against endorsing CUVs.

My understanding has been that our Elantra GT is the I30. Which makes not getting a full N Elantra GT extra frustrating. The extra interior space over the Veloster would’ve been nice.

I like the Kona too, and we actually use the capability. This spring the town really did some heavy duty work to keep the mud under control, but last year there was a base Impreza stuck in the ruts for two days just down the road from us. The Kona has just enough extra GC vs. the Impreza that that’s not an issue for it. Also, with the 1.6t and the DCT it’s surprisingly quick, and the suspension and AWD logic tuning is really excellent.
now, all those people driving FWD ones in the city? Y eah, l ame.

For what you are doing with it, it sounds great. For a suburban neighborhood without a gravel road in sight it doesn’t make sense to give up cargo capacity for “command seating” in such a small vehicle. I do like the funky styling that doesn’t make it look like a bloated jellybean. That is a high compliment because the Kona and the Citroen Cactus are about the only compact roadgoing CUVs I like.

Your Elantra is the forthcoming i30 sedan in RoW (well, certainly Australia). Even Hyundai acknowledge that the new i30 sedan and the i30 hatch (and therefore the i30N) are completely different vehicles...
We get the i30N hatch and fastback but we don’t get the Veloster N. The Kona N is almost certainly coming...
